Feels Like Inception

Time has gone by soooooo fast this week. So weird, almost like I am dreaming. Lots of stuff to pack in this email!! Friday was pretty boring not going to lie. Just a normal day. But saturdayyyy was insane. So we had class and stuff. Morning was average and then we had lunch and then exercise. We have become really good friends with a district in our zone. They are leaving Tuesday though:/ this is the crazy part. We played ultimate frisbee with them and like a bunch of other missionaries and it was like 10 v 10 at the start. We picked the teams, had the throw off and then the 2nd pass down the field Elder Harrison was going for the catch but Elder Esplin was trying to block the pass and they jumped and collided chin to upper cheek. None of us thought much of it but then they were both lying on the ground bleeding. Elder Esplin had a gash on his chin and Elder Harrison had a gash on his cheek just under his eye. One of us ran and got the doctor and they took both of them on the golf cart to the infirmary. We then proceeded to have the funnest game of ultimate frisbee I've ever had haha. After that we had class and a normal evening sorta. The mtc doctor took Elder Harrison and his companion to the hospital to check for a fracture. He ended up with one under his eye and they scheduled a surgery for Monday. On Sunday the doctor was worried about Elder Esplin’s jaw so he took him to get a scan, it was fine though. After Elder Harrison’s surgery we learned that he actually had lots of fractures and it was surprising how good it went. Everyone that knew about it was praying for him, very cool to see the power of prayer.

Sunday was good, there was so much time to study, it was awesome. Monday we rotated companions in the morning so Elder Mac went to the hospital for the day and I was companions with Elder Baker. It was pretty fun not going to lie. At 6:30pm I went to the hospital. The doctor drove me and we got to talk a lot. It was like a 20 or 30 minute drive. I was outside the walls lots haha I feel like an expert in Mexico city. Driving in a car is way different than the bus we took to the temple. I had about 3 hours with Elder Harrison after his surgery with him awake. Then we slept and then I was awake about an hour before I left but Elder Harrison stayed asleep. It was a super cool experience. The hospital room was nice and a nice bathroom. It also had ac which was great as well. A senior couple picked me up so my companion came with them and on the way out they bought us Krispy Kreme donuts! We waited 15 minutes for them to open hahahaha. It was awesome. We got back to class kinda late. Like 10. I never imagined I would wake up in a hospital in Mexico City on my birthday, but I did haha.

My birthday was actually awesome. Way better than I thought. My district sang me happy birthday in class and then the other district we are super close with gave me some strawberry wafers (my fav from the store) and a card at lunch. It was awesome. Then at dinner an elder from my house got the wife of the 1st counselor to sing happy birthday to me. The whole comedor started singing; it felt awesome! Truly blessed to have had an awesome birthday. When I got back to my house the zone leaders in our district gave me a very nice card and some more wafers and a can of juice. The juice is soooooo good. Wednesday was pretty solid. Played ultimate frisbee in the morning and then classes and such. We did a service project in the afternoon too. We cleaned a house for new elders to move in haha. Afternoon class was pretty great. Hermano Sosa is such a good teacher. I love him!

This week we got to teach a few lessons to fake interested persons and it's pretty cool to see! The first 2 (one with each teacher) wasn't great because of our spanish but the last one on wednesday went way better. I definitely need more Spanish to teach better. My Spanish is getting better for sure. I'm scared for going into the field though haha. I don't know how I only have 12 days left. So crazy and awesome.

One of the devotionals was about developing a christlike character by Elder Bednar (video) and I really liked how he said that in order to become and develop a christlike character, we need help from Jesus Christ himself. In the devotional on Tuesday, the president over all international mtcs (I think) spoke. He is an excellent speaker and talked about how God will give us challenges so that we can learn from it and then proceed to use that growth and knowledge to help others. I love being a missionary and although it will be hard, I am excited for it all!
