First Week in the Mexico MTC

I’m at the MTC!  The last week and a half has been crazy!! I flew alone to Dallas but met up with 7 other missionaries to MC. It was pretty easy and the immigration in Mexico was fine. My flight to MC was delayed one hour and we were all on the plane waiting. It was long. When we got out of immigration we met one other missionary and went to the MTC.

Mexico City is wild. Sooooo busy and tight. Also very dirty. After we ate lunch (in the reception office and not the cafe) we went to the devotional with like 20 minutes left. That kind of sucks but the others in my district said it was only alright. I share a room with 2 others in my district and then the other 2 elders have their own room.

It’s so hot at night but I am so tired I fall asleep fast. Basically everyday I wake up at 6:30 play soccer or basketball then breakfast and class at 8:20 until 12:30. Studies for a bit then lunch at 1:20. Then more studies and class from 4:20 to 9:00. I got a new teacher when we showed up, Hermano Hernandez, and he is not bad but he's pretty serious and focused in class. With Hermano Sosa we are all friends with him and have fun but learn a ton. He’s reallllyyyyy good.

The food is realistically like 4/10 but it feels like 8/10. There’s usually something I like and if not I have cereal haha. The cereal is very good but milk is a little warm. By bed time we are all usually really tired. We have devotionals like 3 times a week and they have been very good so far. We also have house devotional with 2 other districts. Sometimes good sometimes not.

Best food at each meal so far:
French toast
Tostadas
Tacos

The Kit Kat ice cream bars were UNREAL.
We had like at least 3 each haha.

We all joke about how the MTC is like the truman madson show because it’s so nice inside the walls. Tons of birds, it’s clean and they always have the grass cut. It's pretty cool. We also laugh a ton as a district. One of the Elders is super funny and we all laugh with him. Most of us are also doing pushups. I’m at like 60 a day but there is an elder at 200 a day (he's huge) and an elder at 100. It’s fun haha.

My spanish is very slowwwww. I got called as the language leader though which is a new thing where I (and the help of my comp) help others in our district with Spanish and make sure we are all using it as much as possible. Kind of funny I got assigned haha. Everyone in our district has an assignment which is interesting. My district is super good, we are all getting along good. Some closer than others but all good.

We got to go to the temple today and it was very cool! We used translating devices haha. Without it I would bave been lost. It’s a very cool temple, biggest outside of America.
One of my favorite things I studied this week was about trust. We always talk about trusting God but we also need to think about how God needs to trust us as well. President Kimball said, "To be trusted (by God) is a greater compliment than to be loved (By God)." We are all, not just missionaries, instruments in the lord’s hand and if he can’t trust us to do his work, his work is delayed. We need to all be able to be trusted by God so that the most important work on the earth, gathering israel, is being accomplished. Through the hardest of times, have faith in our Saviour and endure the challenge. Seek help from His atonement. The more we rely on Him during our challnges, the more God can trust us to accomplish hard things.

Me and my companion at the temple

I am having an awesome time and feel the spirit so much everyday. I love it.

Much love,

Elder Pilling
