I Met a Celebrity

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s email. This week Elder pilling has exchanges, helps with a ward activity, meets a celebrity (basically), and eats at an unreal restaurant. 


So to start off, I had exchanges with Elder Hemmert. He is from Utah and has been out 8 months. It was so fun! We talked so much and actually got some good work done! It was a good time. 


On Friday we were contacting and happened to find the house/gallery of the best known painter from Comalapa. His name is all over wall murals here. Inside his house/gallery he has newspapers and articles from different places in the world where he competed in art shows or people he has taught! So he is basically a celebrity. We learned that a lot of people here are painters, which makes sense because there are a ton of art stores haha. Even our friend Danny is a painter. I love it. 

On Saturday the Hermanas in El Tejar (my zone but not my district) needed help to do a ward missionary activity. So, with permission from the President, we went to El Tejar. 5 other companionships came to help (4 from our zone and the ZLs from the one next to us). It was really fun and basically we got paired up with a young man preparing for a mission and we went out contacting! Because there was one too many companionships, Elder Laplante and I had one of the ZLs join us. We got to go out with a 15 year old and It was really awesome and we got him to do most of the contacts. He gave out two book of Mormons and a few pamphlets, it was great. 

On Sunday we met with a less active and asked what his favorite restaurant is. He told us of an authentic Italian place. Like the owner is literally from Italy. So Monday for lunch, we went. It's in a very weird place, on a dirt road on the way to an area right next to farmers fields and stuff. But a really nice restaurant. I got a Margarhita pizza and IT WAS LITERALLY THE BEST MARGARHITA PIZZA I’VE EVER HAD. It tasted like Italy. It was a tad expensive though so when we get our baptism this month (that we are praying for) we are going back there.

This week I have received so much joy and peace from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been praying to recieve joy and peace from the Gospel and wow the amount of joy and peace I have received is incredible. Life is hard and we all have challenges but that doesn't mean we can't be happy and have peace and joy in our lives! No matter what circumstances you have right now, the gospel will bring you peace and joy if you want it bad enough. It's not easy, but it's worth it. Pray with all of your heart, believing you will recieve, and you will receive an answer. It might be hard to see but it's there! Part of Moroni 7:26 says, "Whatsoever thing ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is good, in faith believing that ye shall receive, behold, it shall be done unto you."

Big Changes

  Hey everyone!!   So this week we had transfers and I got moved to a super cool area called San Lucas Toliman. It's on the famous Lake Atitlan and surrounded by volcanoes. It is soooo pretty here!! I don't have a ton of pictures but I will take more this week don't worry. My companion is Elder Perez from Mexico and I am starting his training!!! I'm so excited and there's tons of work to do here.  The missionaries before us really didn't leave us anything to work with so we are starting from 0... but with a little bit of hard work and some time we will see miracles!!  This week in my studies I came across a verse from Doctrine and Covenants section 50:44 "44 Wherefore, I am in your midst, and I am the good shepherd, and the stone of Israel. He that buildeth upon this rock shall never fall." I love that it has two different names of Christ and that it gives us a promise. If we build upon his rock, we will never fall!!  Such a big blessing.  Happy new ye...

Baptism!

  Hey everyone!!! So, I probably won’t send very long emails until the last week... but these last two weeks have been awesome!   Last Sunday we had 11 people come to church, which is the biggest number I have ever had or seen!! SUCH A BIG MIRACLE for me.  On Saturday we were able to baptize Abigail, which was also another miracle story. After, she texted us and told us how grateful she was and that she will never forget us and hopes we never forget her. I love being a missionary.  This coming week we already have super big days planned with a lot of new potential people and I am so excited and am trying to finish strong! Last Tuesday we went to the temple. That was one of the best, most spiritual experiences on my mission.    I don't have much time left but just trying to finish strong!!   I have been putting "be happy" at the end of my emails for a little while now because I truly believe that being happy is a choice. Time is Running Out

Heyyyy everyone I hope you are all doing good!!  I didn't send an email last week sorry about that. But these last two weeks have been super good!! We have seen the Lord's hand and his timing in everything.  We were walking up a street trying to talk to everyone and then this mom and son stopped us and offered us some empanadas. My companion bought one and then we talked to them about the church! We had a visit with them a little bit after and they told us they NEVER walk down that one street but for whatever reason decided to walk down it. So that's cool. We are really hoping we can help them come to church.  We got a referral from the bishop’s wife. Her name is Abigail. Somehow Abigail was talking to the missionaries 2 years ago but never had time to go to church. And then somehow found the bishop’s wife's number. She has come the last 2 Sundays and is super ready. She told us she had already received her answer about the Book of Mormón and the church. So cool.  He...
