Hi everyone!!!

This week was an awesome week!! We had lots of good things, like almost everyday.

To start, for p day last week we played basketball and it was the funnest thing I've done here, it made me so happy :))

My companion had immigration on Friday morning so we had to go stay at another elders house Thursday night and then they woke up at 5 to go to the capital. I didn't have to wake up that early though :)

Friday to Saturday we had intercambios! I got to split with our District Leader Elder Lemone- he's from Las Vegas. I love him, he is actually the best. From the first day of this transfer he can't believe that I actually live in Canada. AND when I told him I was born in Utah he's been trying to convince me that I'm not Canadian but rather American and therefore a "gringo". I haven't given in and don't want to but it's entertaining hearing everyone say that I'm actually a gringo, not Canadian.

I got to make pupusas this week :)

We got to teach Cinthia and Byron Friday night! It went super well and Cinthia said she has received her answer about the church and the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith! She said her answer was a very spiritual and personal answer - which is so cool to hear. Even tho she isn't a member God still answers prayers in powerful ways!!!

Saturday we had the baptism of Oscar! It went very good and his whole family and a few friends showed up. It was beautiful. He was so happy.

Sunday we had 9 people attend church!!!! And afterwards they all said they want to come back again and that they really enjoyed it! Which is of course awesome to hear.

Monday we got to teach two 8 year Olds and a 12 year old. The family all lives here but different houses and they all have their own kids so it's a little confusing, I'll try and make this simple.
Joseline is the mom of Yoshwin (pronounced Joshwin.) He is one of the 8 year Olds.
Victoria is the mom of Ashwell. The other 8 year old.
Victoria and Joseline are sisters. 27 years old and 23 years old.
Allyson is the niece to Victoria and Joseline. She is 12 years old.
They all attended church and LOVED IT. Joseline and Yoshwin have attended 3 times now, Victoria, Ashwell, and Allyson attended for the first time Sunday. They loved it so much that when we asked about baptism they said they really wanted to! Soooo we are having a baptism for Yoshwin, Ashwell, and Allyson on Saturday!!!!!! It's so sweet to see their enthusiasm and excited about baptism. When we taught them they had super good questions and answered our questions :)

Ok so about the title and my spiritual thought. This gospel is 100% the gospel of Joy. Over the past 4 or so weeks as we have taught Marisol and Oscar, we have seen a huge change. Oscar is happier and has more joy. Whenever we see him after seminary he tells us all about what he learned with the biggest smile on his face. Marisol is a little bit tougher but the evening after church on Sunday she told us with a smile on her face, "Thank you for opening my eyes." She has become nicer and happier. Joseline, Victoria, and their kids have also become happier over the last few weeks. The peace and joy they get from the lessons and from church is evident. This is such a blessing to see as a missionary and I'm so grateful to be serving them!

One more thing, Susan H. Porter once said, "God's love isn't found in the circumstances of our lives but in His presence in our lives." This is so true and I have seen it lots here in Guatemala. When we focus on Christ, we are surrounded by his love.

Ps. Transfers are next Tuesday

Love,
Elder Pilling
