Miracles in the Lord’s Time

Hi everyone!!!!! I really hope you are all doing good despite the challenges you may be having. 

This week was incredible!! So first off, it actually wasn't incredible and was actually one of the hardest few days of my mission... like Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were hard. It was the end of the transfer and a few other things going on. Saturday nobody listened to us and would straight up say no before we finished introducing ourselves. But Sunday and Monday were alright. Not too bad. Monday night we found out about transfers, who was staying and who was leaving! So Elder Reid and I are both staying here!! We are soooo excited. We really wanted to stay together. That made us so happy. But then Tuesday was again REALLY HARD. Everything was good for me but my comp was having a tough time and so it ended up being a little tough for both of us. However... on Friday we received a reference from some sisters in our mission. It's a family of 4 - Pedro, Yolanda, Madeline, and Dulce. It was tough getting in contact with Pedro but once we did we set up an appointment for Tuesday night. So after a long tough day, we went to find this family’s house.  We had the location but It was not accurate and we were searching for the house for 40 minutes. And our calls weren't going through. So we finally received a call from him around 9. We make it to his house around 9:15 leaving us very little time to talk to them. We talked for about 10 minutes then had to RUN home to make it to our house on time!

 

But let me just say, after 4 weeks of hard work and finding new people to teach but not having a lot of success, the Lord definitely blessed us with this family. They are so eager to learn more about the gospel. They have been receiving lessons via phone calls from other missionaires and now they finally get the opportunity to listen in person. We met with them again on Wednesday night and left a Book of Mormon and they said that it was a "gift" for them to have it. I have never seen a family so ready to receive the restored gospel!!! Stay tuned for their progress...

We unfortunately didn't have an appointment with Marcos :/ he never was home. Or was "too busy". But!! We did with Jasmine. And she told us she started reading the Book of Mormon from the beginning!!! And she has read all of the pamphlets and loves learning more. The only problem is she's 17 and doesn't have permission to attend church... so we are going to try and work with her parents this weekend. 

This week I want to bear testimony of miracles. I want to bear testimony of God's hand in our lives and of the countless blessings we receive - despite our challenges. I have never been so happy. It's been a lot of hard work and a lot of testing our faith. But through it all, we studied the scriptures, said our prayers, and acted in faith and worked everyday, trying to be better and have success. If you are having a tough time, read your scriptures, pray, and act in faith. Take time to look for the little blessings in your life. I PROMISE that the Lord is waiting to help you. You just need to act in faith.

Big Changes

  Hey everyone!!   So this week we had transfers and I got moved to a super cool area called San Lucas Toliman. It's on the famous Lake Atitlan and surrounded by volcanoes. It is soooo pretty here!! I don't have a ton of pictures but I will take more this week don't worry. My companion is Elder Perez from Mexico and I am starting his training!!! I'm so excited and there's tons of work to do here.  The missionaries before us really didn't leave us anything to work with so we are starting from 0... but with a little bit of hard work and some time we will see miracles!!  This week in my studies I came across a verse from Doctrine and Covenants section 50:44 "44 Wherefore, I am in your midst, and I am the good shepherd, and the stone of Israel. He that buildeth upon this rock shall never fall." I love that it has two different names of Christ and that it gives us a promise. If we build upon his rock, we will never fall!!  Such a big blessing.  Happy new ye...

Baptism!

  Hey everyone!!! So, I probably won’t send very long emails until the last week... but these last two weeks have been awesome!   Last Sunday we had 11 people come to church, which is the biggest number I have ever had or seen!! SUCH A BIG MIRACLE for me.  On Saturday we were able to baptize Abigail, which was also another miracle story. After, she texted us and told us how grateful she was and that she will never forget us and hopes we never forget her. I love being a missionary.  This coming week we already have super big days planned with a lot of new potential people and I am so excited and am trying to finish strong! Last Tuesday we went to the temple. That was one of the best, most spiritual experiences on my mission.    I don't have much time left but just trying to finish strong!!   I have been putting "be happy" at the end of my emails for a little while now because I truly believe that being happy is a choice. Time is Running Out

Heyyyy everyone I hope you are all doing good!!  I didn't send an email last week sorry about that. But these last two weeks have been super good!! We have seen the Lord's hand and his timing in everything.  We were walking up a street trying to talk to everyone and then this mom and son stopped us and offered us some empanadas. My companion bought one and then we talked to them about the church! We had a visit with them a little bit after and they told us they NEVER walk down that one street but for whatever reason decided to walk down it. So that's cool. We are really hoping we can help them come to church.  We got a referral from the bishop’s wife. Her name is Abigail. Somehow Abigail was talking to the missionaries 2 years ago but never had time to go to church. And then somehow found the bishop’s wife's number. She has come the last 2 Sundays and is super ready. She told us she had already received her answer about the Book of Mormón and the church. So cool.  He...
