Shut down

 Heyyyy everyone!!

Craziness right now here in Guatemala! The people aren't very happy with the government so they are protesting a lot. And today the government said they would use military force to shut it down... so we are stuck in the house!!!!

But even though there are blockades, we got to meet with the Ruiz family!! We had a good visit and we are praying to meet with them more and help them make covenants!!

A few cool stories:

1. Knocked on this door a few days ago and the wife said come back another day. We went back and the husband opened up to us.  He’s taking an English bc he was born in the states and said he's super stressed because he has a court case. And because of the stress he was smoking.  He was talking super fast because he didn't have a lot of time, he says he loved my tie (it was a typical one). Asked how much it was, I said Q25 ($5CDN). He offered Q50. But I didn't have another one to wear afterwards so he said he'd trade me. He had a super cool pink tie and we traded. That's was fun.

2. We were on our way to a visit after hitch hicking in a pick up when the people literally blocked the road. So we ended up getting out and didn't go haha.

3. We have been Hitch hiking a lot and it's so fun to just climb into the back of a truck in the rain or sun.

4. We did a zone service project in a corn field on the side of a small mountain. We had to make trenches in-between every row to help the plant have more soil. It was super fun, I quite enjoyed it even tho I was sweating buckets and got blisters haha.

Spirital thought...

Mosiah 23: 27 But Alma went forth and stood among them, and exhorted them that they should not be frightened, but that they should remember the Lord their God and he would deliver them. 28 Therefore they hushed their fears

The people hushed their fears because they remembered the Lord their God. What happens when we take a second to remember what our Savior has done for us?
Personally, I feel a sense of love and peace and courage to push forward with faith. It's not easy to always remember him in our busy lives but it is something we must learn to do. After all, when we always remember him and keep his commandments, we will have his spirit to be with us!!! I invite you all to remember Jesus more in your lives this week.

Love you all!!
