Opposition In All Things

 Heyyyy everyone!

This week flew by... but it was awesome. We started with divisiones and I got to go to San Andreas Semetabaj. It was really fun even though we had to climb up the mountain to make some visits. Super pretty!!! 

 

Thursday we were able to move 10 sand bags from the main floor to the roof of someone's house. And we started a fast the same morning... we then went to a small village that is 30 minutes from our main town. That was pretty awesome. 

We also made the best tacos ever (a Mexican recipe that my companion has). Here's a pic. 

 



We saw some great progress with Manuel. We are currently talking about baptism and little by little he's starting to understand the doctrine. So hopefully this week we can put a baptismal date with him!! 

On Sunday we were hoping lots of people came... and 1 of them did! Which was kind of sad but it was his first time in a while. So that was good. And it happened to be the husband of Lillian! 

"11 For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things."

So I was talking with my mom about how there is always an opposite reaction in the gospel. When we are trying to do good things, we will have evil opposition. When we have evil opposition or temptations to break the commandments of God, we will have blessing as we overcome them. And Lehi taught this perfectly in 2 Nephi 2: 11-14.

Big Changes

  Hey everyone!!   So this week we had transfers and I got moved to a super cool area called San Lucas Toliman. It's on the famous Lake Atitlan and surrounded by volcanoes. It is soooo pretty here!! I don't have a ton of pictures but I will take more this week don't worry. My companion is Elder Perez from Mexico and I am starting his training!!! I'm so excited and there's tons of work to do here.  The missionaries before us really didn't leave us anything to work with so we are starting from 0... but with a little bit of hard work and some time we will see miracles!!  This week in my studies I came across a verse from Doctrine and Covenants section 50:44 "44 Wherefore, I am in your midst, and I am the good shepherd, and the stone of Israel. He that buildeth upon this rock shall never fall." I love that it has two different names of Christ and that it gives us a promise. If we build upon his rock, we will never fall!!  Such a big blessing.  Happy new ye...

Baptism!

  Hey everyone!!! So, I probably won’t send very long emails until the last week... but these last two weeks have been awesome!   Last Sunday we had 11 people come to church, which is the biggest number I have ever had or seen!! SUCH A BIG MIRACLE for me.  On Saturday we were able to baptize Abigail, which was also another miracle story. After, she texted us and told us how grateful she was and that she will never forget us and hopes we never forget her. I love being a missionary.  This coming week we already have super big days planned with a lot of new potential people and I am so excited and am trying to finish strong! Last Tuesday we went to the temple. That was one of the best, most spiritual experiences on my mission.    I don't have much time left but just trying to finish strong!!   I have been putting "be happy" at the end of my emails for a little while now because I truly believe that being happy is a choice. Time is Running Out

Heyyyy everyone I hope you are all doing good!!  I didn't send an email last week sorry about that. But these last two weeks have been super good!! We have seen the Lord's hand and his timing in everything.  We were walking up a street trying to talk to everyone and then this mom and son stopped us and offered us some empanadas. My companion bought one and then we talked to them about the church! We had a visit with them a little bit after and they told us they NEVER walk down that one street but for whatever reason decided to walk down it. So that's cool. We are really hoping we can help them come to church.  We got a referral from the bishop’s wife. Her name is Abigail. Somehow Abigail was talking to the missionaries 2 years ago but never had time to go to church. And then somehow found the bishop’s wife's number. She has come the last 2 Sundays and is super ready. She told us she had already received her answer about the Book of Mormón and the church. So cool.  He...
