No Power?

Image
Hey everyone!!!!   This week was an interesting week...  So the power went out last Monday morning. Not a rare thing, it usually comes back within the day. We went to the ruins for p day and had a good time. But then when we came back, we still didn't have power... so we can't make anything anddd we have cold showers. Not the end of the world though. Members feed us lunch and dinner. But then...  Thursday night  we ran out of water. So we had to go to a members house and shower. And well we had a a little water in our pila so we can flush the toilets. But yeah it's now been a week without power and 3 days without water. Very good times here in Guatemala!  We got to meet with Leslie yesterday! Her mother in law is the relief society president and we have been trying to get a real visit with her for a while now. We got to share a message on the restoration and it went really well and we are excited to see her progress!  Some fun things this week: On th...

Village Time

This week was a pretty normal week I won't lie... buttt we did do some cool things.   So first off on Wednesday we had a lesson with Vany Gomez. But we all decided and especially Vans that she needed to stop receiving lessons because every time we have one she has more questions... so for now we are taking a break from lessons.   But on Thursday we went to an Aldea (a village in the mountains).  We went to an Aldea called Son Jose Xepatàn. We spent a few hours out there and found some good potential people to teach!! We are going back some time this week.  We didn't get to meet with Julio, Benjamin, or Nefi, but this week we'll be sure to get to them.  Today we went to some ruins!! It was pretty neat but honeslty nothing crazy haha. Here are some pics.    Well this week I want to share a little from a talk by Elder Uchtdorf. "But just as minor deviations can draw us out of the Savior’s Way, so too can small and simple acts of realignment assured...

Transfers

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a good week.   Well this week was a big change!! I got a a latino companion and I'm finishing his training, so he only has a month and a half in the mission. Elder Bautista, from Mexico! I will definitely learn lots of Spanish this transfer and am so excited.       This week because we really don't have a whole lot of people that we are teaching, we spent some good time trying to find new people. But honeslty we didn't have much  success. It was tough. But, on Sunday we had an incredible day. We went to an Aldea (village) with the elders quorum presidency. It was like 30-45 minutes In car. And we met this part member family. One of the sons, Nephi, is not baptized and would like to learn more! But the thing is he doesn't know very much Spanish. Just the native language. So the elders quorum presidency had to do most of the teaching haha. It was so cool to be apart of a lesson in that language tho! They live very far s...

Time For A Change

Image
Hi everybody!!! What's up!!?? This week flew by and now it's transfer time. I am going to be staying here and getting a new companion! I don't find out  until tomorrow  though. It is pretty sad that Elder Reid is leaving though. I will definitely remember this time with him. So this week we were running around! Thursday we had divisions. I stayed in Patzun with Elder Grimm and it was honestly super awesome. I learned a lot! Friday we had to travel a little to finish divisions and set up the baptism. We had a baptism on Saturday. Rosa made the decision and it was soooo awesome! Lots of people showed up to support her and I think she and her husband will continue strong!     This week I would like to share something that I read in Doctrine and Covenants 68:6 6 Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I a...
