The City!

Image
Heyyyy everybody I hope you all are doing very good!! I got transfered to the city with Elder Wright. He's from Utah and has 20 months in the mission. The city is sooo busy and so loud and so much is happening. I miss the mountains but can see how much potential we have!!! It’s also like reallyyy hot here. I'm dying.    Now this week we have been meeting with lots of members seeing if they have friends for us to teach. And we have recieved lots of potentials!!! I can already see the potential people here we can teach!!  This week we have shared a few scriptures from President Oaks' talk. Here is one I love: "I am the light and the life of the world. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. And ye shall offer up unto me no more the shedding of blood; yea, your sacrifices and your burnt offerings shall be done away, for I will accept none of your sacrifices and your burnt offerings. And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spir...

Hi everyone!  This week was a good week! The last week of the transfer and my last week here. Tomorrow I will be going to a new area!  On Wednesday we finally moved houses!! The new house is super super nice.... too bad I’m leaving haha. But we didnt have power for 16 days and no water for 13 days. It was an interesting experience to say the least.  We visited our friend Benjamin Tuesday to see what he thought about baptism. He is 9 years old and was afraid of the water. So we set a date for the 8th. He accepted and seemed excited! We went back Thursday and Friday to finalize everything and Saturday we had the baptism. He showed up and was super exicited. But when it was time to enter the font, he got super scared and started crying. A minute later her came into the font with me  but was still crying. He really didn’t want to go under the water... but after 5 or 10 minutes and help from Elder Bautista and the ward mission leader, we were able to perform the ba...

General Conference!

Heyyy everyone, This week was a pretty solid week!! We had divisiones with the zone leaders on Wednesday and I went to their area with Elder Child. He’s almost done his mission and super chill. I knew him before and it wad a good time. We had some good lessons! My companion and the other zone leader taught Jerson. He lives in an Aldea and it was a really good lesson. He read the Book of Mormon and had things marked and wants to be baptized. But, wants to know the church first and learn more.    We met with Benjamin on Friday and invited him to be baptized on the 8th! He said yes and seemed excited. But he's afraid of the water and has tried 3 time before. Like a year ago. But we are hoping and praying that he will have the courage to take this step!  We have transfers on the 11th.... we will see what happens but honestly I don’t want to leave. I love it here. Even though we still don't have water or power... but good news!! We are moving houses on Wednesday! I’m pretty ha...

No Power?

Image
Hey everyone!!!!   This week was an interesting week...  So the power went out last Monday morning. Not a rare thing, it usually comes back within the day. We went to the ruins for p day and had a good time. But then when we came back, we still didn't have power... so we can't make anything anddd we have cold showers. Not the end of the world though. Members feed us lunch and dinner. But then...  Thursday night  we ran out of water. So we had to go to a members house and shower. And well we had a a little water in our pila so we can flush the toilets. But yeah it's now been a week without power and 3 days without water. Very good times here in Guatemala!  We got to meet with Leslie yesterday! Her mother in law is the relief society president and we have been trying to get a real visit with her for a while now. We got to share a message on the restoration and it went really well and we are excited to see her progress!  Some fun things this week: On th...

Village Time

Image
This week was a pretty normal week I won't lie... buttt we did do some cool things.   So first off on Wednesday we had a lesson with Vany Gomez. But we all decided and especially Vans that she needed to stop receiving lessons because every time we have one she has more questions... so for now we are taking a break from lessons.   But on Thursday we went to an Aldea (a village in the mountains).  We went to an Aldea called Son Jose Xepatàn. We spent a few hours out there and found some good potential people to teach!! We are going back some time this week.  We didn't get to meet with Julio, Benjamin, or Nefi, but this week we'll be sure to get to them.  Today we went to some ruins!! It was pretty neat but honeslty nothing crazy haha. Here are some pics.    Well this week I want to share a little from a talk by Elder Uchtdorf. "But just as minor deviations can draw us out of the Savior’s Way, so too can small and simple acts of realignment assured...

Transfers

Image
Hey everyone! I hope you all had a good week.   Well this week was a big change!! I got a a latino companion and I'm finishing his training, so he only has a month and a half in the mission. Elder Bautista, from Mexico! I will definitely learn lots of Spanish this transfer and am so excited.       This week because we really don't have a whole lot of people that we are teaching, we spent some good time trying to find new people. But honeslty we didn't have much  success. It was tough. But, on Sunday we had an incredible day. We went to an Aldea (village) with the elders quorum presidency. It was like 30-45 minutes In car. And we met this part member family. One of the sons, Nephi, is not baptized and would like to learn more! But the thing is he doesn't know very much Spanish. Just the native language. So the elders quorum presidency had to do most of the teaching haha. It was so cool to be apart of a lesson in that language tho! They live very far s...

Time For A Change

Image
Hi everybody!!! What's up!!?? This week flew by and now it's transfer time. I am going to be staying here and getting a new companion! I don't find out  until tomorrow  though. It is pretty sad that Elder Reid is leaving though. I will definitely remember this time with him. So this week we were running around! Thursday we had divisions. I stayed in Patzun with Elder Grimm and it was honestly super awesome. I learned a lot! Friday we had to travel a little to finish divisions and set up the baptism. We had a baptism on Saturday. Rosa made the decision and it was soooo awesome! Lots of people showed up to support her and I think she and her husband will continue strong!     This week I would like to share something that I read in Doctrine and Covenants 68:6 6 Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I a...
