So Much Work!

Image
Hi everyone!  This week was soooo busy it was awesome. We started teaching the family that owns the pupusa restaurant!! Marisol (mom), Oscar (son, 16), and Scarlett (daughter 11). There are more family members but only the three of them work at the restaurant and we teach them in the restaurant in between customers. We have been almost every day this week and I have had quite a few pupusas (not quite everyday but it's tempting). They are unreal. Oscar came to church on Sunday and is in love with studying! He started reading the book of morning from the title page and after church told us all about Sunday school, he even has the Gospel library app now and loves it. We are working on a date for baptism, we are hoping for the beginning of September! Bruno also came to church Sunday and we have met with him every day this week. He is so excited to get baptized on Saturday!!! I am going to do the baptism and I am very excited.  Another huge blessing was we got to meet with a family...

No Water

Hi everybody!  Wow what a week! This area is soooo different than Comalapa. Our area only has residential communities with tiendas and restaurants so honestly it's pretty chill. Not at all like how I expected the "city" to be.  So this week was awesome. Friday was our first day working the area and we found 8 new people that listened to a little message and wants to hear more. We also had a first lesson with a friend of a member and it went so good. We set a baptismal date for the 28! The sad part is he said he would come to church but then wasn't home. And we checked after chruch and we wasn't home. And we checked Tuesday and he wasn't home. It’s a little hard because he doesn't have a phone and we live 15 minutes walking from him. The only way we can communicate with him is the member who lives next to him. We are hopeful and excited though! There were like 200 people that attended church on Sunday which was awesome and so cool! Reminded me of a sacramen...

I Got Transferred!?

Hello everyone! A crazy end to this week. So this week started awesome. We had a visit at a member’s house with Danny and his girlfriend on Thursday. It went super good and they totally could get baptized this month!  On Saturday we had an área attack in Comalapa and I was with Elder Hemmert! It was so fun!  We then ate at the italian restaurant after haha. I got another pizza. Very good.  Sunday night we found out if one of us was getting transferred. When we got on the call with the zone they went one by one telling us if we were getting transfered. They said I was leaving and white washing an area! Which means both elders in the area were taken out. Everyone, including me, were shocked. No one ever leaves their training to open an area!  I was super excited though. I found out on Wednesday my area and companion. My new area is considered "the city" meaning Guatemala City but we really are in Quetzal city! I will miss the mountains but know it is where I nee...

I Met a Celebrity

Image
Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s email. This week Elder pilling has exchanges, helps with a ward activity, meets a celebrity (basically), and eats at an unreal restaurant.  So to start off, I had exchanges with Elder Hemmert. He is from Utah and has been out 8 months. It was so fun! We talked so much and actually got some good work done! It was a good time.  On Friday we were contacting and happened to find the house/gallery of the best known painter from Comalapa. His name is all over wall murals here. Inside his house/gallery he has newspapers and articles from different places in the world where he competed in art shows or people he has taught! So he is basically a celebrity. We learned that a lot of people here are painters, which makes sense because there are a ton of art stores haha. Even our friend Danny is a painter. I love it.  On Saturday the Hermanas in El Tejar (my zone but not my district) needed help to do a ward missionary activity. So, with permis...
